Lalbagh Fort is located in the Lalbagh area of Old Dhaka. Originally the name of the fort was Aurangabad Durg or Aurangabad Fort. Later the name was changed to Lalbagh Fort. Let’s know all the details about Lalbagh Fort.
Lalbag Kella History
In 1678 Emperor Aurangzeb’s son Yuvraj Shahzada Azam started the construction of Lalbagh Fort. But he left for Delhi before the fort was completed. Later, Subedar Shaista Khan started building the fort again in 1680. In 1684, Shaista Khan’s daughter Iran Dukht Rahmat Banur, known as Pari Bibi, died, and its construction was stopped in 1684 when it was unfinished.

- Friday – 10 am to 6 pm (Closed from 12.30 pm to 2 am)
- Other Weekdays – 10 am to 6 pm (Closed from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm)
- October to March (Winter)
- Sunday – Closed weekly
- Monday – 2:30 PM to 5 PM
- Friday – 9 am to 5 pm (Closed from 12.30 pm to 2 am)
- Other days of the week – 9 am to 5 pm (closed between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm)

- Children below 5 years do not require a ticket
How to go to Lalbagh Fort
Lalbagh Fort can be reached from anywhere in Dhaka. A few routes are mentioned here.
Route-1: From anywhere in Dhaka, first go to Gulistan Golap Shah Mazar. From there, take a Laguna or a rickshaw to Lalbagh Fort.
Route-2: From anywhere in Dhaka to Newmarket, Neelkhet, Shahbagh, TSC or Azimpur and from there take a rickshaw to Lalbagh Fort.
Route-3: From Sadarghat to Lalbagh Fort via Babubazar Bridge.
Besides, you can directly go to Lalbagh Fort by reserving CNG from anywhere in Dhaka.
