Dhaka Metro Rail Ticket Price, Schedule (Updated)

Metrorail is a modern high-speed rail system for the movement of people within the city. It is usually overhead or underground to facilitate continuity.

From this article, we will know all the information about the Dhaka Metrorail schedule, fare list, and other information.

Dhaka Metro Rail Stations

Dhaka Metrorail has a total of 17 stations. Stations are,

  • Uttara North, Uttara Center, Uttara South
  • Pallabi, Mirpur 11, Mirpur 10, Kazipara, Shewrapara
  • Agargaon, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar
  • Shahbagh, University of Dhaka
  • Secretariat, Motijheel
  • Kamalapur (Not yet launched)

Dhaka Metro Rail Schedule

Motijheel from Uttara North

  • Metrorail will run every 10 minutes from 7.10 am to 7.30 am
  • Metrorail will run every 8 minutes from 7.31 am to 11.48 am
  • Metrorail will run every 12 minutes from 11.49 am to 3.12 pm
  • Metrorail will run every 8 minutes from 3.13 am to 8 pm

Motijheel to Uttara North

  • Metrorail will run every 10 minutes from 7.30 am to 8 am
  • Metrorail will run every 8 minutes from 8.01 am to 12.08 pm
  • Metrorail will run every 12 minutes from 12.09 PM to 3.52 PM
  • Metrorail will run every 8 minutes from 3.53 PM to 8.40 PM

Metrorail Weekly Closed: Friday

Note

  • The first metro rail from Uttara North will depart at 7.10 am
  • The first metro rail will depart from Motijheel at 7.30 am
  • Metro trains departing from Uttara North Metrorail Station at 7.10 am and 7.20 am can be traveled using MRT/Rapid Pass only.
  • Metro trains departing from Motijheel Metro Rail Station after 8 PM can only be traveled using MRT/Rapid Pass.
  • Single journey ticket purchases, MRT pass purchases and top-ups can be done from 7.15 am to 7.50 pm at all metro rail stations.
  • All ticketing offices and ticketing machines will be closed after 7.50 pm.

Tickets can be purchased easily from ticket counters or automatic machine counters of dhaka metro rail stations.

What is MRT (MRT Pass)?

State-of-the-art Smart IC Card with NFC facility issued by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). This card is used as a metro rail travel ticket.

How to take MRT (MRT Pass)

  • MRT Pass is available from all metro rail stations.
  • First, a form has to be filled which is available at all metro stations. Alternatively, you can download the form from DMTCL’s website (dmtcl.gov.bd) and fill it out beforehand (not much required).
  • After filling out the form and submitting it to the specified counter, the MRT pass card will be issued immediately.
  • To register you need your name, paFare’s name, National Identity Card (NID) or passport number, mobile number, and e-mail ID.
  • MRT pass can be purchased from 7.15 am to 7.50 pm.
  • It will cost 500 Taka to get the card. Of which 200 taka is the value of the card. which will be given to you when the card is returned. And 300 Taka you can use for travel.

How to recharge MRT (MRT Pass)

  • MRT passes can be recharged at ticket counters or ticket vending machines at all metro stations.
  • The card can be recharged from Tk 20 to Tk 1000 at a time.
  • A maximum balance of 10 thousand taka can be kept on a card.

What is Rapid Pass?

State-of-the-art technology smart IC card with NFC facility issued by Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA). Apart from being used as a metro rail ticket, this card can be used for many purposes including bus rapid transit, and railway services.

How to take Rapid Pass

  • The Rapid Pass can be purchased from certain branches and sub-branches of Dutch Bangla Bank.
  • Apart from this, rapid passes can also be purchased from DBBL booths in Diabari and Agargaon.
  • Like the MRT pass, it will be given a rapid pass immediately after filling out the form and submitting it.
  • To register you will need your name, paFare’s name, National Identity Card (NID) or passport number, mobile number, and e-mail ID.
  • It will cost 400 Taka to get the card. Of which 200 taka is the value of the card. which will be given to you when the card is returned. And 200 Taka you can use for travel.

How to recharge Rapid Pass

  • Rapid Passes can be recharged at ticket counters or ticket vending machines at all metro stations.
  • It can be recharged with Rapid Pass from Dutch Bangla Bank.
  • The card can be recharged from Tk 20 to Tk 1000 at a time.
  • A maximum balance of 10 thousand taka can be kept on a card.

Special note

  • While taking MRT or Rapid Card, you must register with the correct information. Card refunds, damaged card refunds, lost card refunds, lost card refunds and lost card recharges are also available with this information.
  • MRT or Rapid Card validity is lifetime.
  • MRT or Rapid card balance tenure is 10 years.
  • Card user can use the card once per recharge even if there is insufficient balance on the card. However, that amount will be deducted in the next recharge.

  • The benefits of both cards are almost the same. There is no difference except for the card issuing authority.
  • Card users will get a 10% discount on fares.
  • A person can purchase more than one card. But it is better to buy one card with one NID.
  • Only one person can travel with one card.
